Easy Fried Cabbage Recipe
Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning, or to taste, divided
- red bell pepper, sliced
- medium green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 medium head cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter, or more to taste (Optional)
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
Directions
Follow these steps to prepare this flavorful dish:
- Heat the grapeseed oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes.
- Season with 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning and stir to combine.
- Add the red and green bell peppers, cooking for an additional 1 to 2 minutes.
- Introduce the sliced cabbage, followed by the remaining 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning, and stir to mix everything together.
- Add the butter (if using) and stir until it melts into the mixture.
- Let the cabbage simmer for about 15 minutes, or until it reaches your desired softness.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.

This was soooo good! I'm avoiding fat, so I used maybe a half teaspoon of olive oil and a splash of dry white wine. Didn't have any Cajun seasoning, so I used a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. I poured boiling water over the onion before I added it to the pan with the garlic. I have high blood pressure, so no salt, but I used some freshly ground pepper. I couldn't get over how flavorful and delicious this turned out - and I will definitely be making it again!
