French Press Cold Brew Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 ounces coarsely ground coffee beans
- 2 cups filtered water, at room temperature
Directions
Step 1: Pour the coarsely ground coffee into a French press .
Step 2: Add filtered water to the French press. Stir gently to ensure the coffee grounds are fully immersed in the water.
Step 3: Place the plunger lid on top, but do not press it all the way down. Press the plunger down about 1 to 2 inches, just enough to ensure that all the coffee grounds are submerged.
Step 4: Allow the coffee to steep at room temperature for 16 to 18 hours. This extended steeping time is key to developing the full flavor of cold brew.
Step 5: After steeping, strain the coffee through a coffee filter placed in a small strainer to remove the grounds.
Step 6: Transfer the strained coffee to an airtight bottle or jar, then store it in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to a week.
To Serve: Fill a glass with ice and pour in equal parts of cold brew and your choice of water or milk. Stir and enjoy!
