Flat Iron Steak with Balsamic Reduction Recipe

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Servings: 6

Original Recipe Yield: 1X

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds flat iron steak
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely ground mixed peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • cup chopped fresh parsley

Directions

  1. Brush the flat iron steak with olive oil, then press it into the coarsely ground peppercorns. Season with salt and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and cook to your desired level of doneness, approximately 4 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  3. After cooking, transfer the steak to a plate and cover it to keep warm.
  4. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook over medium heat until it starts to brown around the edges, about 1 minute.
  5. Pour the balsamic vinegar into the skillet and increase the heat to medium-high. Let the vinegar reduce by half, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the vinegar has reduced, remove from heat and set aside.
  7. Thinly slice the steak against the grain and arrange it on a serving platter.
  8. Drizzle the reduced balsamic vinegar over the steak and sprinkle with chopped parsley to serve.
