Fried Egg Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 4 large eggs
- 4 slices processed American cheese
- 8 slices toasted white bread
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
Directions:
Step 1: Gather all the ingredients you'll need for this recipe.
Step 2: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter is hot, crack the eggs directly into the pan.
Step 3: Cook the eggs to your preferred level of firmness. If you like your eggs runny, cook them for a shorter time. For firmer eggs, cook them a little longer.
Step 4: Just before the eggs are fully cooked, place a slice of American cheese on top of each egg. Continue cooking until the cheese has completely melted over the eggs.
Step 5: Remove the eggs from the skillet and transfer them onto a slice of toasted bread.
Step 6: Season the eggs with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 7: On the remaining slices of toasted bread, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise and ketchup.
Step 8: Place the prepared slices of bread (with mayonnaise and ketchup) on top of the eggs to form 4 sandwiches.
Step 9: Serve the sandwiches warm and enjoy your delicious meal!

I made a few tweaks to the original recipe. Here are the ingredients I used: - Fried egg - Toasted rye bread - Extra sharp white cheddar cheese - Bacon (added for extra flavor) - Mayo (no ketchup) I wish I had some tomato and onion to add as well. I used to make them with just egg and mayo, which was also delicious, but I like this version with the added ingredients.

I believe that a fried egg sandwich is the ultimate comfort breakfast that can be enjoyed anytime. The best part is that you can easily make one at home without having to spend a lot of money, and you can customize it to your liking. Personally, I prefer breaking the yolk and flipping the egg so that the yolk spreads throughout the sandwich. I take pride in the fact that no one can make a fried egg sandwich as delicious as I can. I always add mayonnaise to mine, which some may find unusual, but I couldn't care less about their opinions. Home-cooked fried egg sandwiches are simply the best!

Here is the rewritten review: "Why call it a fried egg sandwich if the egg isn't fried? A true fried egg sandwich features a broken yolk, cooked on both sides until firm, not runny. This method also speeds up the cooking process."

I highly recommend trying mayo on one side and mustard on the other instead of ketchup! It may sound unusual, but believe me, it takes these sandwiches to a whole new level. The flavors complement each other perfectly, and personally, I would skip the cheese, but that's just my preference.

I am sharing this review for those looking to enhance their sandwich experience. I tried adding butter and garlic salt to my toast, and sprinkling crushed red pepper on the egg. Personally, I found this combination elevated the flavors significantly, but taste preferences may vary.

This recipe is amazing! I made it with provolone cheese and sourdough bread since that's what I had on hand, and added some bacon for extra flavor. Like many others, I found that I didn't enjoy the ketchup on it, so next time I'll skip that ingredient. I will definitely be making this again without the ketchup - it's a keeper!

I prepared this dish without cheese and it turned out fantastic! As an adult who hasn't cooked eggs in years, it brought back nostalgic memories of my childhood.

The first sandwich I ever made myself was 30 years ago, and I still make it regularly. I love using Kraft singles, preferably, and I usually only add ketchup or sometimes hot sauce if I'm making a scrambled egg sandwich.

I really enjoy this recipe! I used to make it with slightly runny eggs, crispy bacon, and sometimes added tomato and lettuce to make it a complete meal. Absolutely delicious!
