Slow Cooker Steel-Cut Oats Recipe

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 1 medium apple - peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons butter, cut into 6 pieces (Optional)
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1: Combine water, milk, oats, apple, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a slow cooker; mix well.

Step 2: Cook on Low for 1 hour.

Step 3: Reduce heat to Simmer or Warm and cook for 7 to 8 more hours.

Tips

You can substitute maple syrup or another sweetener of your choice for brown sugar.

I followed the recipe exactly and the dish turned out just as I anticipated. The only issue I had was realizing that the recipe actually yields 6 servings instead of the intended amount. I'll adjust the quantities next time to make a smaller portion.
