Crescent Roll Breakfast Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) package bulk pork sausage
- (8 ounce) package Neufchatel cheese, softened
- 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste (optional)
Directions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375F (190C).
Step 2: In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until browned and crumbly. Drain any excess fat.
Step 3: Add the softened Neufchatel cheese to the sausage and cook, stirring constantly, until fully combined. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 4: Unroll the crescent rolls. Place half of the rolls into an 8x8-inch glass baking dish. Press the seams together to form a solid base layer.
Step 5: Spread the sausage and Neufchatel mixture evenly over the crescent rolls. Top with shredded Cheddar cheese.
Step 6: Place the remaining crescent rolls over the cheese, pressing the seams together to seal the top.
Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Step 8: Let the dish cool for about 10 minutes before cutting it into 8 squares and serving.
Recipe Tips
- For a different flavor, you can swap Neufchatel cheese with cream cheese.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, try using spicy pork sausage and omit the salt and pepper.
