I have made these several times for tailgating parties. I put the brown sugar in a ziploc bag and shake a few pieces of bacon and a couple smokies then wrap them up. I also sprinkle more brown sugar on top before baking. If your bacon isn't crisping up, put your pan under the broiler for a few minutes. Be careful, though, I almost caught the toothpicks on fire!!!

I cook bacon wrapped smokies for 20 min at 380. then coat with brown sugar and bake for 10 min. Bacon is not drispy if coat first.

Made this many times in the past and loved it as directed. I just made it again since Costco had a sale on both items Farmer John's bacon and the Hillshire lil smokies. I just baked it in the nuwave without toothpicks same results but faster. Baked 5-6 min on one side and carefully turned each one tip/top end turn. Sprinkled more sugar. Kept grease or drain it's up to you. Baked a little longer about 6-7 minutes or more depends how you like your bacon. Delicious and Quick. I buy in bulk most of the time and i find out that 1 bacon package wraps approx 30 to 36 sausages depends on bacon.

These things steal the show! There are big hit at any party I have ever brought them to. I cook them on a rack so they aren't laying in the grease, makes a big difference for those who complained they were too greasy.

Love love love this recipe! (and so does everyone else!) I have to triple it or even x4 as they go so quick! Here are few of my secrets as ive been making them over 10 years!! Prep them on long wooden skewers the day before then store in fridge. Dont go cheap on bacon or it wont stay on very well. After cutting bacon in thirds put 2/3 back in fridge (it is so much easier to wrap around when cold) First thing in the morning I foil line a baking tray and place skewers so each end is held up by the side of tray as to not let the smokies sit in the grease as it cooks. When they are done i put a toothpick in each smokie and slide them off skewers into crock pot (that way the toothpick isnt all gross from cooking)

I baked on 350 degrees, 20 minutes on one side and 14 minutes on the other side. I coated both sides of bacon with brown sugar before rolling. Use center cut bacon and cut in half. These make a yummy snack and are very easy! Serve with any kind of mustard. I did not put in crockpot and be sure to spray pan!

Took a few other’s suggestions: Partly cook bacon (4 min in microwave). Cut into thirds, and wrap smokies. Place in bowl or ziplock bag, sprinkle with brown sugar, 2 T water and stir. Leave in fridge overnight then cook as directed. Thank you, jill1018!

I've made these several times and they are definitely a crowd pleaser! I usually put mine on a rack on top of the lined cookie sheet so the bacon grease drips below and the bacon gets a little scrunchies. I do add extra brown sugar about half way thru as it tends to melt off... and then right at the end when the bacon is scrunchies so it comes out with the crunchiness of the bacon and the sweetness of the brown sugar.

We usually make 'Pig Candy', which is maple bacon dredged in brown sugar and then baked so that it caramelizes...YUM! Then I ran across this recipe last year and WOW! We get asked to make this now for gatherings and it is always the first to go! We line the baking sheets with heavy foil for easy clean-up, using use narrow metal skewers that rest on the edges to elevate the little guys above the pan. This makes it easier to flip them and speeds up the process (we make A LOT at one time). When serving, we provide a little container of toothpicks for folks to use for spearing them out of the crock pot later. After reading some of the other reviews here, we are going to try putting a 1/2 cup of maple syrup in the crock pot this time - we usually don't put anything in and they go so fast it doesn't matter. Psst...always use the 'smokies' not the 'weiners' for the best taste!

This has become a family favorite- I often make this as an appetizer to take places or as a fun holiday or party food. I cut the bacon in half, or sometimes in thirds to make it go further. Let's just say that whatever venue it is being served, there are never any left! I follow the recipe almost to a t, and it is great as it is! Only thing I have found is that I have to be careful baking it on "convection bake" as it dries it out, so just keep it on the regular "bake" setting on my oven. Yummy!

I make this exact recipe with the addition of 2tsp. cayenne pepper. Always a big hit and I have never heard anyone say it was too spicy. It gives just a hint of heat that complements the sweet and savory flavors. I also use parchment paper

Better with the beef smokies than the pork & chicken weiners! Needed to bake mine 55 minutes to crisp up. Will try dredging bacon in sugar before wrapping next time.

Was real easy to make. They were gone in 30 minutes. I only made one package. One package of smokies and one package of bacon. Cut bacon in half.

The package of lil smokies I used was a 12 oz pack. Other than that, I did all the rest. It was an amazing recipe. I made a whole pan of them and almost didn't make it out of the kitchen without eating them all.

I started making this years ago for Christmas. Now they are requested every Christmas. I also make them for grill outs. I make them because I or my husband want them. I make them without BBQ sauce, there are people in my family that do not like BBQ sauce.

Make a bowl of brown sugar and coat the bacon on both sides before wrapping the little smokies. Spray the aluminum foil with a little bit of olive oil before baking because they will stick.
