Air Fryer Roasted Chestnuts Recipe

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Roasted Chestnuts in an Air Fryer

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound chestnuts

Directions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375F (190C).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, then remove it from the heat.
  3. Wash and dry the chestnuts. Place them flat-side down on a cutting board.
  4. Using a paring knife, score a large "X" on the rounded side of each chestnut, covering at least half of the surface. Ensure the knife goes through the outer skin and the brown layer underneath to make peeling easier after roasting.
  5. Soak the scored chestnuts in the boiled water for 1 to 5 minutes, depending on their size.
  6. After soaking, remove the chestnuts with a slotted spoon and immediately transfer them to the air fryer basket. Add 1 cup of the boiled water into the basket with the chestnuts.
  7. Cook the chestnuts in the preheated air fryer for 10 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  8. Check if there is still water in the basket. If not, add another cup of boiled water. Continue cooking until the shells peel away and the exposed flesh turns golden brown, about 5 to 10 more minutes.
  9. Allow the chestnuts to cool until they are cool enough to peel off the shells completely.
